Esplanade Park - Same Place. Different Times.
This set of photos at the Esplanade Park (formerly known as Queen Elizabeth Walk) were taken on January 8, 2011 morning.
I "walk the talk", or rather to "walk the blog" to reminisce the "Queen Elizabeth Walk", a popular promenade many Singaporeans have visited with fond memories.
The previous set of photos of the same place were taken at Esplanade Park on the night of New Year January 1, 2011 at different times.
Day Time. Night Time. Different Times. Same Place (Queen Elizabeth Park changed name to Esplanade Park). As a matter of fact, the name which the young generation call this a different name in dialect as "Hoi Pei" in Cantonese which my friend Lam Chun See blog under "Reflections on Children’s Day 2008" on October 01, 2008
here .
The place was known as "ngou zang chiu" (Teochew) or "goh zang chiu" (Hokkien) in the 1950s which means "Five Trees". Which were the five trees at the park was named I wonder. Please tell to share the grandfather stories about the "Five Trees" which was known to our grandfather's times.
The information on Queen Elizabeth Walk is available at Wikipedia , the free encyclopedia.
Photo Credit: Peter Chan. This is the Lim Bo Seng Memorial and the occasion was the official ceremony of its opening in June 1954. General Post Office (now the Fullerton Hotel) in the background.
The "Long and Winding Road" blog "A Saturday morning's stroll through Old Singapore" at Lim Bo Seng Fountain here too.
Please check the "Spot the Differences" at this
"memory teaser" and to enjoy everyone young and old.

I remember my first visit to this place when my father brought me there. I was awed and respectful at the same time, like walking into someone's palace ground.
Thanks lim. Great memories of Esplanade Park. Do you have any photos at Queen Elizabeth Walk to post on this blog to share with us?
