Chinatown Mass Lantern Walk 2013

I was in Chinatown on the evening of 15 September 2013 to join in the finale of Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2013 which was open to the public.  Locals, new citizens, visitors from all over the world, young and old, infants in arms or in prams to join in the lantern walk.

As I absorbed the atmosphere, sound and sight to enjoy a leisurely-paced lantern parade procession under the bright full moon in the sky, dazzling street light-up and decorations in Chinatown, my fond childhood memories of Mid-Autumn Festival  in Bukit Ho Swee over 60 years ago.

It is a meaningful and memorable traditional and cultural event organised by the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng CCC and the festival volunteers for the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2013.

Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2013 Mass Lantern Walk was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Defence, Dr Lily Neo, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC and the Organising Committee members of the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng CCC.

The lantern walk was greeted by a wide range of entertainment from dragon dance, energetic cheerleading performance to percussion band during the walk.

The lantern walk concluded with stage performances and pyrotechnics display in the heart of Chinatown.

Everyone arrived at the stage at New Bridge Road with a rousing cheers for a successful completion of the Chinatown Mass Lantern Walk 2013 ... "Cool, awesome ..." which the foreign participants remarked loudly.

In the clear night sky at Chinatown was bright and round moon to bless everyone:   大家中秋快乐身体健康,如意!
