Those in my kampong or the neighbouring Potong Pasir and Kampong San Teng didn't look quite so run down as far as I could remember. In 1971 when I started my NS, we passed through many kampongs in places like Marsiling, Bt Panjang, Hong Kah etc. They too did not look so bad as those in your photos.Lam Chun Seehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01762020157703342970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-108630126700411599.post-3462739062805377392010-04-28T20:47:50.904+08:002010-04-28T20:47:50.904+08:00Thank you "professor" aka Uncle Dicko. Welcome Professor "Wise Old Owl" ; )

Like Ivan's romantic notion, but it should be "Better Days Tomorrow" - "明天会更好"!

I am getting old, so still confused with "reality and myth":

Once Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased.

[Quote]
He didn't know he was Zhuangzi. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Zhuangzi.

But he didn't know if he was Zhuangzi who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuangzi. Between Zhuangzi and a butterfly there must be some distinction! This is called the Transformation of Things. (2, tr.
